Remember that really cute British kid from the likes of Finding Neverland and Charlie and The Chocolate Factory? Well, if you fancy watching him test the boundaries of creepiness then Bates Motel is definitely the binge-watch series for you! As a contemporary prequel for the famous Psycho movie, Bates Motel tells the story of a young Norman Bates and the skin-crawling relationship with his unhinged mother, Norma, played by the brilliant Vera Farmiga. This is the perfect choice for those of you not afraid of something a little more twisted, with creators Carlton Cuse, Kerry Ehrin and Anthony Cipriano really delving into a mix of violence, suspense, family roles and a sheer gross-out mother/son relationship. With the first two seasons ready to watch, Bates Motel goes beyond the usual horror thriller and really dips into the down-right sick psychosis of the famous character. Its really interesting to see the connection between the 1960s Alfred Hitchcock film and this contemporary prequel. It makes for a really disoriented and trippy watch. Freddie Highmore is brilliant as the disturbed Norman, with equally great performances from some new characters, including Max Theriot, Olivia Cooke and Nestor Carbonell (that guy from lost).
