3. Caitlin Gets Trapped In The Future - Heroes
Heroes features one of the most maddeningly unresolved plot points of any TV show ever, when in its second season protagonist Peter Petrelli (Milo Ventimiglia) and his girlfriend Caitlin (Katie Carr) travel to the virus-obliterated post-apocalyptic New York City of the future.
When Peter returns to the present, Caitlin is inadvertently left in this wasteland of a future, and with Peter now unable to access his time-traveling powers, he can't go back to get her.
Though fans understandably assumed that this subplot would be picked up later in the season, the 2007-2008 WGA Writers Strike resulted in a majorly curtailed season two, ensuring that Caitlin's planned rescue never happened.
Instead, given that Peter does eventually prevent the future calamity, it's implied that Caitlin was more than likely erased from existence, as the future she was trapped in would never happen.
It's a horrifying suggestion for Caitlin's fate, and even worse when you consider that Peter doesn't seem particularly bothered about it, nor is she ever mentioned again for the remainder of the series.
