10 TV Shows That Would Have Been Better Off As Anthologies

1. The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead is often hailed as one of the best shows on TV - and more often than not, I find myself asking, 'why?' With a hornet's nest of behind the scenes messes and showrunner changes, plus long stretches of lackluster episodes in each season, the series often staggers along as slowly as one of its rotting antagonists. With the show's (understandable) decision to deviate from the comics series in many ways, we might ask if they might have done better to simply set the show in the Walking Dead universe and cease the similarities there. A series where each installment focused on a different group of survivors during the zombie apocalypse might help keep the premise fresh and interesting, avoiding the steady series of ruts the show has found itself in during its run. With a spinoff series set to premiere sometime in the next few years, it's possible we'll see what that could have looked like after all. What do you think? Would these series have worked better as anthologies, or do you prefer them as-is? What other picks do you have for series you'd like to see in an anthology format? Sound off in the comments below!
