10 TV Shows Boycotted For Ridiculous Reasons

4. Teachers Depicted Romantic Weekends

The group One Million Moms went for it yet again (notice a trend?) when they boycotted the TV Land show Teachers. Before the show even aired, moms and trolls with nothing better to do pleaded with the network to scrap the airing of the show and, we can only assume, burn all existing copies of it in a crazed bonfire ritual.

Along with the familiar boycott cries that the show featured sexual innuendos, (gasp) one night stands (oh no), lying and deception (hide your kids), and (oh hell no!) ROMANTIC WEEKENDS, the group wanted the show cancelled because of the way it humorously depicted teachers. According to those who arranged the boycott, teaching is already a thankless job, and the show Teachers simply mocks and belittles educators for the sake of comedy. Which, you know, is kinda how comedy works.

Unlike many boycotts which worked to pull away advertisers from shows, ironically, all this boycott did was call attention to a show that no one had previously heard of that aired on a network no one had ever watched. Following the boycott - which was written about in a few industry-related publications - people tuned in to see the so-called romantic weekends that Teachers featured and the show was renewed for another season.
