Following up on the seminal Saving Private Ryan was no easy task, but that's exactly what Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks did when they returned to collaborate on Band of Brothers.

Featuring many of the same elements and presentational techniques that made Ryan so memorable, the ten episode series followed Easy Company as they partake in the European theatre of the Second World War. The show was pieced together through real-life accounts of soldier's experiences and this fuelled its main focus on the mental, physical and moral stresses this platoon went through.

The series was lauded at the time for its excellent acting and impeccable commitment to adopting a realistic tone.

We follow these men from their training in boot camp, all the way to battles in Europe as they brave the tribulations of conflict. It won countless awards and attained massive viewership at the time of its

Complementing its older brothers on the silver screen, Band of Brothers is a standout production that provides a visceral glimpse into the final days of World War Two. Almost a decade later, the mini-series would be followed up with "The Pacific" which portrayed another hub of the conflict with equal gusto.
