10 TV Shows Everyone Should Watch At Least Once

5. Hannibal

Few serial killers in fiction are as gruesome and well-known as Dr Hannibal Lecter, who terrified audiences everywhere with his appearance in 1991's Silence of the Lambs.

Most are very familiar with Anthony Hopkins' portrayal of the character, who delivered a standout performance over a small minority of the film's runtime. After the disappointing performance of Hannibal and Hannibal Rising, writer Bryan Fuller worked to revive the character with a small screen series comprising all of Thomas Harris's original novels.

Running from three seasons, Hannibal has earned huge praise for its depth and the relations between the characters that make for a horror anthology with a lot more thought put into it.

Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen delivers a sublime performance as Doctor Lecter, striking a flawless balance between professionalism and brutality, making him one of the most memorable villains of the last decade. It's hard to not be enraptured as he manipulates matters from behind the scenes, and consistently outfoxes those investigating him.

He's complemented equally well by Hugh Dancy's Will Graham, who attempts to understand the nature of crazed killers. It may have unfortunately been cancelled after three seasons, but this modern adaptation of the well known serial killer makes for a grisly horror outing.
