10 TV Shows Just Saved From Cancellation

Seth MacFarlane might be a well-known name, but that hasn't translated into huge success for his Star Trek-inspired comedy series The Orville, which lost around 40% of its viewers in the 18-49 demo during its second year.

Fox cancelled a number of dramas around it, including some, like The Passage, that were performing better, so there was definitely a chance the series could've gone the same way.

However, Fox have a very close relationship with MacFarlane, who has been making Family Guy for the network for 20 years now, and importantly they also received a lot of money in tax credits from the state of California for filming there, making it a much cheaper series to produce than it would otherwise be.

NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far. A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
