Wrecked pokes fun at the wild popularity of survival television shows. The pilot follows the basic formula for how shows of this genre typically start. A group of strangers are thrown together as they become the survivors of a plane crash that lands them on a seemingly-deserted island. Though they each come from different lives, they are forced to come together to try and survive until help can find them. The longer they stay on the island, the more they wonder if they are the only ones there.
The show is hilarious, making poignant jabs at the melodrama of the genre without shying away from the gruesome realities of survival. Themes of tribalism, humanity, cannibalism, losing touch with reality, and more are touched upon in each episode. All while also making you laugh.
It's a fun cross of Gillian's Island (1964-67) and Lost (2004-10). If you were a fan of either of these programs then this show will give you more than a chuckle.
