10 TV Shows That Almost Had Much Better Endings

9. Not Guilty! - Seinfeld

Walt Breaking Bad
NBC

The Ending: Seinfeld, one of the most popular sitcoms of all-time, is still known today for its controversial ending in which the main characters - Jerry, George, Elaine and Kramer - are put on trial and then sentenced to jail-time for all the bad things they've done across the years. Derided for their indifference, a judge tells them:

"I do not know how, or under what circumstances the four of you found each other, but your callous indifference and utter disregard for everything that is good and decent has rocked the very foundation upon which our society is built. I can think of nothing more fitting than for the four of you to spend a year removed from society so that you can contemplate the manner in which you have conducted yourselves. I know I will."

It was a downbeat ending if there ever was one - unexpected and bizarre in equal measure, but also kind of fitting given that the foursome acted like mostly terrible people for the sum of the show's eight seasons.

The Alternative Ending: Despite the fact that the ending to the show served as a sort of comeuppance, it rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. An alternative ending was shot that had the jury finding the foursome innocent, leaving their victims entirely enraged. This would certainly have been a lot funnier, and fitting in a different way.
