9. Kyle XY
This is perhaps the only show that ABC Family has ever offered that I enjoyed growing up. While it still had the young teen romance subplots that are guaranteed to pop up on any show airing on that channel, Kyle XY was also a clever soft science-fiction show that presented a genuine mystery as well as a continuous question: Who is Kyle XY? Much of the shows initial mystery regarding Kyles identity was resolved within the first two seasons when it was revealed that he was not only a clone of reclusive genius Adam Baylin, but a clone who stayed in gestation about 16 years. As a result, he developed special abilities like telekinesis and enhanced intelligence. The shows final antagonist was the organization Latnok, a group of scientists who wanted to change the world and of which Baylin was a member. The final episode involved Kyle and his female counterpart Jessi breaking into Latnok headquarters to stop their plan of awakening an army of Kyle clones. At the end of the episode, Cassidy, Latnoks new leader, reveals to Kyle that he is his brother. Although its doubtful that Cassidy was telling the truth, this was a hell of a tease to end the show on, and the series would benefit from a comic book resolving the mystery of who Cassidy really was. One other thing to note is that when season 3 was released on DVD, there was a behind-the-scenes feature called Kyle XY: Future Revealed where the shows producers revealed what would have happened in future episodes. This already gives any writer a blueprint on where to take the comic book. The show could literally go anywhere, from Kyle taking down Latnok to traveling around the world discovering how to use his abilities. ABC Family has been forcing teen dramas down our throats for years, the least they can do is work out a deal to continue the adventures of the socially-awkward, bad-ass super-teenager.
