10 TV Shows That Just Got Cancelled

9. Archive 81

Netflix's James Wan-executive produced supernatural horror series Archive 81 - based on a 2016 podcast - premiered this past January to strong critical reviews, yet only managed to stay in the streamer's weekly Top 10 TV shows for three weeks before dropping off.

In late March, barely two months after its premiere, Netflix sadly confirmed that Archive 81 wouldn't be returning for a second season, and though no official reason was cited, one can presume its failure to catch on with a wider audience was the primary reason.

Yet the show's passionate fans were immediately outraged that Netflix cancelled another compelling, mystery-driven show on the cusp of a cliffhanger without giving it time to find an audience long-term.

Given that the podcast itself ran for three seasons and 35 episodes, there was clearly the expectation that Netflix's show would last more than a mere eight-episode single season.
