1. After Life

After Life is a strange project for Ricky Gervais. Not because of the themes or the brand of comedy, which are entirely in the controversial comic's wheelhouse, but because it's the first TV show in the actor's career that hasn't come with an expiry date.

The Office, Extras and Derek all ran for two seasons (bar specials), with Gervais opting to keep their stays short and sweet. With After Life airing its second season this year (following the hugely successful original run), many were wondering whether the two-and-done rule would be repeated.

For the first time, though, Gervais has bucked this unwritten rule as Netflix confirmed the series will indeed be returning for a full third season. Even better for fans, for the time being it seems as though Gervais is happy to continue After Life for as long as Netflix and viewers want it, already talking up ideas of a potential fourth season.

The company and the comic have even struck a first-look deal, so whether it's in the form of After Life or something else, expect much from Gervais on the platform in the future.
