10 TV Shows That Just Got Renewed

7. The Resident

The Resident
Fox

With three seasons airing in just two years, The Resident has been a strong performer for Fox so far, consistently bringing in around seven million viewers with each new batch of episodes.

Sadly, the medical drama hasn't been embraced in the same way by critics, who have lamented that the talent the show has courted has been wasted on an unremarkable drama. Likewise, despite the series attempting to put a spin on the classic medical drama framework by highlighting the bureaucracy and politics inherent to the field, it's come under fire for misguided plotting.

Even worse, this has also led it to take flack from real-life medical professionals calling the show gratuitous and unrealistic.

Still, that doesn't seem to matter much, as at the end of the day realism doesn't always sell. Melodrama sells, and The Resident has clearly struck a chord with an audience, as Fox has renewed it for a full fourth season.
