10 TV Shows That Killed Off Their Biggest Stars

4. Charlie Sheen - Two And A Half Men

Charlie Sheen was the face and star of Two and a Half Men for its first eight seasons, and during this time proved to be one of the best sitcom actors of the generation.

Following season eight, though, Sheen found himself embroiled in controversy. In-between attending rehab for substance abuse and being at the centre of some major lawsuits, Two and a Half Men's ninth season was put on hold, and Sheen took to calling showrunner Chuck Lorre a "loser" and a "maggot" for putting the show on hiatus.

Because of the comments, the show was put on hold "indefinitely" and Sheen was fired. This caused the actor to go on series of rants about Lorre, all of which coincided with a very public breakdown.

Season nine announced that Charlie Harper had died between seasons, replaced by newcomer Ashton Kutcher. In the series finale, though, it was revealed Charlie was still alive, and as he makes his way to the beach house, a piano falls from the sky and crushes him, with Lorre watching on and hitting the audience with a sly and cruel "Winning."
