10 TV Shows That Ruined Other TV Shows

6. Succession RUINED Billions

The Last of Us Walking Dead
Max & Showtime

Showtime's Billions recently wrapped up with its seventh season, though if you ask many fans, the ferociously addictive drama series began to noticeably decline around the start of its fourth season.

Not so coincidentally, this was also the same year that HBO's similarly-themed finance drama Succession made its debut and basically showed Billions a thing or two (or twenty) about crafting captivating, unforgettable TV.

The strength of Succession's stingingly satirical storytelling and characterisation, not to mention the note-perfect quality of its central performances, categorically blew Billions out of the water and near-instantly made it less fun to watch.

Hell, even Succession star Brian Cox himself intimated as much, insisting that his show wouldn't go "past its sell-by date" like Billions so undeniably did.

If Billions treats its premise and characters in relatively superficial, surface-level fashion not unlike a well-made soap opera, Succession is basically the inverse of this.

Given their thematic similarities, Succession makes it tough to go back to Billions now, especially in its wonkier later seasons.
