10 TV Shows That SUCKED After The First Season
3. Westworld
Westworld is just another perfect example, sadly like many on this list, of a show that everyone was talking about for a few weeks and now more often than not you’ll hear people asking “hey, whatever happened to that?”. The show’s slower release schedule (every two years as opposed to every year) hasn’t helped it retain viewers but about half-way through season 2 of the show its numbers very swiftly dropped.
For those that never saw it, Westworld was based on a 1970s film of the same name about a futuristic amusement park that allowed its visitors to partake in some seriously wild and often disturbing fantasies via its reliance on artificial intelligence.
I don’t think it's fair to say that season 2 is a dumpster fire, not by any means, but its already complex world was buckling under its own weight as it was and the further we got into the story the more incomprehensible it became. The amount of flashbacks and flashforwards was making the show more of a chore to watch than felt necessary.
Look, high art is great and all but a lot of people just want to be entertained and Westworld was starting to be seen as too pretentious for its own good. Furthermore, Westworld just didn’t have anything deep to say. The promise of it was clever but it failed to have the actual depth to back it up.
