10 TV Shows That Switched Main Characters
3. House Of Cards
If you've kept up with recent industry news at all then you had to have expected this to pop up.
In Netflix's first-ever original release on their streaming service, we have House of Cards, the story of an ambitious congressman, Frank Underwood (played by Kevin Spacey), as he divulges in the dirty underbelly of politics to gain an advantage on his opposition. Manipulation, blackmail, murder: nothing is off-limits as Frank Underwood aspires to become President.
By the end of the second season, Frank has been sworn in as President, but he must keep all of his shady business under wraps if he has any chance of staying in the White House and out of prison. Frank, alongside his wife, Claire, endorse shady international deals, become embroiled in terrorist plots, have political adversaries and other opponents assassinated (or do the killing themselves) and even declare war to keep themselves in power.
Following the real-world allegations of sexual misconduct levelled against Kevin Spacey, the production of season six was suspended and Spacey was fired from the show. Season six begins one hundred days into now lead character Claire Underwood's term as President, with Frank having been killed off-screen.
Season six would be the final season of the show, although whether this is because of Spacey's misconduct or the low ratings is up in the air.
