4. ER - The Helicopter Crash
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XhxiJ3MELac You may have started noticing a pattern here: long running TV shows centered around doctors don't seem to know how and when to give up, but in this instance, the writers delivered something completely unforgettable, wasting what could have been a great excuse for character development in order to gain a bigger audience. Not only did they kill a character who had the potential to become one of the main points of the show, they killed him in the most unimaginative way possible. Dr. Romano was seriously injured in an accident with a helicopter that took his arm, and after a very long and painful recovery, we started to see some changes on his persona, as well as the consequences of the incident. So, what do they do to him? They kill him, with a helicopter. Because why not? I'm sure they wanted him to say, "Oh God, not again."
