10 TV Shows That Were Unexpectedly Resurrected
7. Arrested Development
Like Community, Arrested Development is another critically acclaimed comedy that struggled to find a home on network television. Its eccentric characters and bizarre story lines meant the show never really attracted a huge audience when it first began airing on Fox in 2003.
After three seasons of riding the line (and multiple in-show jokes about the inevitability of the programme's failure) Arrested Development was cancelled in 2006. In 2011, however, the cast reunited for a panel in New York, where show creator Mitch Hurwitz confirmed there would indeed be a fourth season.
There were a number of things that made this announcement so unexpected. Firstly, Hurwitz had essentially ended the show on his own terms, claiming there was no more story to tell (before its cancellation in 2006, he declined the opportunity to move the show to another network). Secondly, this was the first instance of a major streaming service "reviving" a previously cancelled show, so the concept was pretty incredible.
Yet the show returned for its fourth season in 2013, and there remain talks of a potential fifth.
