10 TV Shows To Fill That Doctor Who Shaped Void

1. Buffy The Vampire Slayer

Yes, this series did finish in 2003, but Buffy is the closest show in theme, format and style to NuWho there is. The reason that Buffy will fill that Doctor Who shaped void so well is because NuWho was basically cut from a Buffy shaped template. The influence of Buffy on NuWho has been publicly acknowledged by Russell T Davies and Steven Moffat, with Moffat stating that Buffy was the blueprint for the revised show. "I don't think the fact that we're in the post-Star Wars era is an issue, but matching Buffy is. Doctor Who was never a space drama anyway, it was about horror: dark shadows and creepy monsters lurking just around the corner." In fact, Buffy and NuWho are so alike that if you love one you€™re almost guaranteed to like the other. Humour, action, chills, companions, a lonely god-like central figure and, of course, lots and lots of monsters to boot. f you€™re a Buffy novice then buy some old boxsets or series link it on the many channels that continue to air it. Do yourself a favour and watch it in order, from €œWelcome to the Hellmouth€ to €œChosen€. If you€™re a Slayer veteran, well it€™s been 18 years (Hells Bells!) since the show first started so it€™s high time to reacquaint yourself with the best supernatural drama series ever. You never know, you might forget about Doctor Who altogether. What did you think of this list? Are there any other TV shows that would fill that Doctor Who shaped void?
