10 TV Shows Totally In Denial About Being Over
8. Billions
A melodramatic crime series loosely based on real-life events, Billions follows the exploits of Damian Lewis' ruthless hedge fund manager Bobby Axelrod and Paul Giamatti's federal prosecutor Chuck Rhoades, as the egotistical pair attempt to beat each other in the financial market.
Anchored by its two leading performances and intriguing assessments of themes such as greed and moral corruption, the show's sixth season is set to air in 2022, only this time series regular Damian Lewis won't be around to strut his stuff.
Though Lewis has wanted to leave the show for a while now to spend time with his family (including his late wife, Helen McCrory), it's pretty hard to imagine the series continuing to impress at the same level with him gone, considering his character was the focal point of basically all the series' drama.
In an ideal world, Billions would have ended with Lewis' tenure, since it's going to be close-to-impossible to capture the conflict he brought to the series with Giamatti by his side. Homeland might have managed it, but Billions is probably pushing its luck, and doesn't seem to have any major hook going forward.
