10 TV Shows Utterly Ruined By Their Final Revelations

6. Quantum Leap - Sam Never Returned Home

Quantum Leap Ending
NBC

Much like 24, Quantum Leap's final episode wasn't originally intended to be the end, though unlike 24, the writers learned of the show's cancellation before the final episode aired, allowing them to awkwardly contort that season finale into a highly unsatisfying series finale.

Though fans expected the show to conclude with Dr. Sam Beckett (Scott Bakula) finally making a leap back home, the final episode instead sees Beckett meet an approximation of God (Bruce McGill), who informs him that he can in fact return home whenever he wants or continue helping humanity out.

An abrupt title card then coldly declares that Beckett never made it home, and to add insult to injury, the title card even hilariously misspells Beckett's name.

Fans deserved an emotionally resonant end to Sam's story, but due to the show's ill-timed cancellation, the writers had to quickly cobble together a "concrete" ending in the editing room. Appalling.
