10 TV Shows Utterly Ruined By Their Final Revelations

2. Dexter - Debbie Dies, Dexter Becomes A Lumberjack

Dexter was one of the most unique and fascinating TV shows of the 21st century...for its first four seasons. Things then got progressively more contrived and frustrating, leading to an appropriately awful shark-jumping final episode.

The most horrendous revelations include the surprise death of Dexter's (Michael C. Hall) sister Debbie (Jennifer Carpenter) from a blood clot during surgery, Dex burying her at sea and then faking his own death by driving his boat into an approaching storm.

Dex then resurfaces in Oregon, working as a lumberjack under an assumed name, having abandoned his son Harrison with his murderer girlfriend (Yvonne Strahovski) forever more.

Even ignoring the flagrant melodrama on display here, it really felt like a cop-out fate for Dexter, who probably should've either been killed or finally captured in the finale. To see him instead living a comical undercover life was the exact opposite of what most fans wanted.
