10 TV Shows That Went From Good To Great In 2013

6. Person of Interest (Season 3)

The Basics: Take an all-knowing predictive, watchful artificial intelligence called "The Machine", a former CIA (Reese) agent who is every bit as bad-ass as you'd think and the creator of said machine (Finch) and you have the makings of something that can only be described as a sci-fi detective thriller. Though the government sees no value in preventing ordinary crimes that are predicted by The Machine, Finch and Reese do. Aided by Dets. Joss Carter and Lionel Fusco, they prevent crimes from happening or, in the event they are too late, rescue the victims and pacify or apprehend the offenders. The Turn Up: Now that Carter is closing in on the corrupt police organization (and they are closing in on her), she tries breaking ties with Reese and Finch so that she can focus on taking them down and getting her Detective shield back. With the addition of Shaw to the team, Reese has someone whose skills match his own to keep him on his toes while in the field. Root is locked away in Finch's library and offers help instead of hindrance. But the real "turn up" has been two-fold: the death of Carter and forewarnings from Root of a greater evil on the horizon that they have not yet seen the likes of.
