The Basics: Skipping across the pond a bit, Misfits, in many ways, is what NBC's Heroes should have been. A revolving cast of characters trying to conform their normal lives with their newfound powers. However, like Heroes, Misfits fell into a creative funk and killed off (or simply wrote off) some of the more interesting characters and their powers. Gone are Kelly, Donovan, Simon, Alisha and Nathan from Series One (their version of a season), and in their place we have Alex, Abbey, Finn, Jess, Rudy and Rudy Two. Our band of Community Service rejects finally found their way. The Turn Up: This final seaso - er, series has been a marked improvement from the previous three and feels more like series one with the emotional core returning and surprising consequences from the previous 4 series. With Rudy Two trying to strike out on his own, and Rudy becoming less irritating and more relatable, it brought a sweetness to the character that had not been seen since Donovan's death. Alex grows into a more complete and complex character while Jess is less bitchy than she's been previously portrayed. Finn is the only character who seemed more or less complete and this final series gave him some much needed gravitas, especially when he finds love inside a computer (don't ask). A very arresting final series to an interesting show!
