10 TV Shows Which Refused To Give Fans What They Wanted

6. Dexter's Punishment - Dexter

Star Trek Enterprise Finale Crew
Showtime

The main character of the show Dexter, who is also confusingly called Dexter, is a serial killer. As complex as some might be, serial killers are, on the whole, not nice people.

In a perfect world, not nice people get punished for the things they do. However, the world of Dexter (the show) is clearly not a perfect one.

At the end of the show's first run, the cop-turned-killer fakes his own death whilst burying his adoptive sister at sea. This is not the end for him though, as it is later revealed that he is living out his days as a lumberjack.

This left a bad taste in the mouths of fans. Whilst Dexter was framed as the "hero" of the series, he was still a psychotic murderer and he deserved to be punished. Unlike in Breaking Bad, where Walter White dies as a result of his actions, Dexter got away scot free.

Whilst Dexter eventually meets his maker in the revival series New Blood, fans had to wait over seven years to see him get his comeuppance. For many, this was too little too late.
