10 TV Shows Which Refused To Give Fans What They Wanted

3. Daenerys On The Iron Throne - Games Of Thrones

One of the most derided and maligned finales in all of TV is the ending to George R. R. Martin's fantasy epic, Game of Thrones.

After 73 episodes, eight seasons, and dozens of brutal, bloody deaths, the show was finally about to seat fan favourite Daenerys Targaryen in her rightful place on the Iron Throne. And then Kit Harrington ruined it all by stabbing her.

To be fair, the writers ruined it all when they made Dany go mad for seemingly no reasons. Viewers were outraged when The Mother of Dragons went full Mad Queen and tried to burn King's Landing to the ground, which in turn led Jon Snow to plunge his sword into her.

And no, that was not a euphemism.

Dany on the Iron Throne might have seemed too obvious, but it made a lot of narrative sense. Also, Game of Thrones viewers had witnessed The Breaker of Chains grow over eight years from a scared little girl to a dominant warrior Queen. They wanted to see her succeed, not turn evil at the last minute.

Ah well, at least we got Bran as King.
