10 TV Shows With Plot Points That Go NOWHERE
3. Game Of Thrones - Qarth
Critiquing Game of Thrones in its early days was a tough task, but nowadays, it's easier than saying, "you know nothing, Jon Snow". The series that was once heralded as a revelation in TV has retrospectively become full of missed opportunities and tangled plotlines, and Dany's time in Qarth is a particularly egregious one.
"The greatest city that ever was or will be" was a fun roadside stop in the journey of Daenerys Targaryen. But looking back on it, did it serve any purpose to the story? It gave Dany some understanding of how people would covet her dragons and even began to show the levels of brutal punishment she was capable of, but it didn't lead to any big revelations outside of that.
Another issue was the teasing of Quaithe, who seemed set to become a fixture in the show's future - especially seeing as she had a gift for prophecy - but ended up disappearing as soon as her purpose was done. She delivered a prophecy to Jorah and then helped him find Dany after Pryat Pree took her, but that was about it.
As Quaithe was a shadowbinder from the city of Asshai - just like Mellisandre - her presence in the show could have been interesting. Still, escaping from GOT without being part of season eight might have been best for her.
