10 TV Shows You Didn't Know Shared The Same Sets
8. Dawson's Creek And One Tree Hill
It's not unusual for a town or city to become a popular filming destination - like Vancouver, Canada. But when the 2000s teen drama show One Tree Hill decided to film in Wilmington, North Carolina, fans knew something was amiss.
I don't know about you, but I find it extremely hard to differentiate One Tree Hill from another popular show: Dawson's Creek. Both shows were teen dramas, about 2 boys in a small American town trying to get through high school. They had similar characters, similar plot beats and were both filmed in the same town!
If you watched Dawson's Creek in the late 90s/early 2000s you were probably an automatic watcher of One Tree Hill. And the writers capitalised on that. They constantly referenced the former show, they featured some of the main actors as small cameo characters. They also filmed in some of the DC characters' houses as well as Hell's Kitchen, the bar from the show.
Using the same location was smart, as One Tree Hill started filming the same year Dawson's Creek ended. Fans were on the lookout for their next teen drama fix and they got that in OTH. But it is a little disconcerting to see the characters of OTH wander the same streets as Joey and Dawson while referencing their show at the same time.
