10 TV Spin-offs You Didn't Know Were Happening
1. Marvel Studios' Echo
After a slow first year, Disney Plus has really hit its stride recently, pumping out high-quality, AAA, original content week after week after week.
In the span of a few months, the service gave us WandaVision, The Falcon And The Winter Soldier, and a second season of The Mandalorian, and looking ahead, this constant barrage of exciting shows is set to continue for many years to come.
One of those exciting shows is Hawkeye, which is currently scheduled for a 2021 release. Centring on the Marvel Cinematic Universe's bow-and-arrow supremo, the show is also going to introduce famous comic-book characters like Kate Bishop and Maya Lopez - and the latter is about to become a bigger MCU player than you think.
In March 2021, Variety reported that a Maya Lopez spinoff series was in "early development" for Disney Plus. Lopez - also known as Echo - is a deaf Native American character who is able to perfectly mimic the movements of her enemies. She has also held the mantle of Ronin in the comics, just like the MCU's Hawkeye did in Avengers: Endgame.
Details about the Echo series are thin on the ground at the moment (a writers' room was only just assembled), but we should get a clearer indication of the show's premise once the character makes her MCU debut later this year.
