How I Met Your Mother was one of the biggest things in pop-culture for the duration of its nine season run, so is it any surprise that the franchise is being expanded?

Currently in the works for Hulu (which means that it'll probably stream on Disney Plus for us UK folks) is a spinoff show titled How I Met Your Father, with Hilary Duff attached to star. Duff will play Sophie, who is telling her son the story of how she met his dad.

Just like How I Met Your Mother, How I Met Your Father will use a single and multi-camera approach, and in addition, the creators of the original show are also returning as executive producers. So, from its premise to its tone, the new show should make long-time fans feel right at home.

How I Met Your Father will kick off with a ten-episode first series, and while a release window hasn't been mentioned yet, it will probably be ready to go in 2022.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
