1. Tate Langdon/ Rubber Man (Evan Peters) 'Murder House'
In terms of bodycount and horrific actions, Rubber Man just about pips Bloody Face as the ultimate big bad in Horror Story. In life he was Tate Langdon, the disturbed and horny teen son of Constance, but in death he is the murdering, raping, S&M fetish Rubber Man. Appearing as Dr. Harmon's psychiatric patient , Tate originally seemed like just a misunderstood teenager. His infatuation towards Dr. Harmon's daughter Violet developed into the twisted Romeo and Juliet element of the first season, whilst his revelation of being a ghost was one of the first major 'say whaaaat' moments of the series. In 1994 Tate horrifically burns Constance's boyfriend Larry Harvey (admittedly for murdering his brother), then goes on a mass shooting at Westfield High School, notching up 15 kills before he even departs his mortal coil. After being gunned down by a S.W.A.T. team he has continued to destroy the lives of those who have inhabited the house since, raping Vivien Harmon and killing off bitchy queens Chad and Patrick. In the gruesome two parter 'Halloween', Chad was drowned in an apple bobbing bucket whilst Patrick was sodomised with a fire poker. 'Halloween' gave us a much more in depth look at Tate's backstory and reasoning behind what he is. After death and since becoming the 'Rubber Man' alter eg , Tate became even more unhinged; it finally seemed like Violet could restore some harmony to his troubled life, but ultimately his involvement with her lead to her committing suicide. So why does Tate come before Bloody Face? One in death Tate is immortal and has superhuman strength. Two he looks amazing in the Rick Genest style make up (above), which is now one of the iconic images from all three series, and three as deranged as Tate is, you still feel some sympathy towards him and imagine there is a shred of human dignity under there.
