If you were lucky enough to find yourself scrolling through the offerings on Amazon Prime Video in March of 2017, you may have stumbled across a little show called The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. If you didn't see it or didn't hear about it from a friend, odds are, you missed it.

The series is all about Miriam "Midge" Maisel, and her life as a housewife in the late 1950s and early 1960s America. At least, that's what it was about in the very beginning. When her husband leaves her for another woman, she finds herself doing stand-up comedy on a stage in her nightgown, and from there, a career is born.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is incredibly well-written, and it's funny enough to make just about any viewer laugh out loud at their TV. S. It's doing remarkably well in terms of critical response and awards, but Amazon didn't exactly market it outside of its Prime service in the beginning.

One thing Amazon did do that was at least a local marketing technique was open a pop-up restaurant in Manhattan for eight days in December 2018, but that was long after the first season premiered.

The platform has continued to promote the hell out of it since its release, but prior to it, most people didn't know anything about The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
