10 Underhyped TV Shows That Blew Everyone Away

9. Marvel's Runaways

Since Iron Man established the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2008, hundreds of millions of dollars have been spent promoting the films, television series, and tie-in comics. Despite being the most successful film franchise of all time, not everything in the MCU receives the level of hype it deserves. Case in point: Marvel's Runaways.

The series began development as a movie, but after the success of The Avengers, Marvel Studios switched it up to instead premiere as a television show. The Runaways went to Hulu with the first season premiering in November 2017 and running through to January 2018.

By December 2019, all 33 episodes of the three-season series had aired, and that was it. The show was highly praised by critics, which is evident from the first season's stellar 86% "Fresh" raring on Rotten Tomatoes.

Overall, the series did tremendously, but ask an average fan of MCU movies if they've seen it, and the likely answer will be "No." Despite having the backing of Marvel Studios, Marvel's Runaways was barely hyped by the studio, with a New York Comic Con 2017 series reveal followed by the red carpet premiere, but that was it.
