10 Unexpected Sitcom Scenes That Made Us Bawl Our Eyes Out

4. Del Is Alone Now - Only Fools & Horses

Another actor capable of showing such polarising emotions, one of David Jason's finest Only Fools And Horses moments came during one of the saddest scenes the sitcom offered. Having just watched his little brother Rodney get married, Del chats to Marlene about why he never married himself, and blames the fact that no one was prepared to help him look after Rodney. As he's left in the hall by himself, Simply Red playing in the background, he picks up the groom model from the wedding cake and holds it close. The camera zooms out, and we're left watching Del thinking about the past. The episode ends happily however when Rodney returns back from honeymoon, and goes straight home to Del's flat. It's one of the more poignant moments of a brilliant sitcom, but one that cemented Del Boy as one of the best-loved characters in British television history.
