10 Unluckiest Doctor Who Characters

5. Danny Pink

Danny Pink feels as though he was designed to be an unlucky character. Everything we learn about him plays into this idea, from his tragic military backstory - which involved him accidentally killing a civilian boy - to his hopelessness with the ladies, as evidenced by his disastrous first date with Clara.

Even when he did strike up a romance with Clara, she struggled to maintain a healthy work/life/TARDIS balance, meaning that Danny often got the short end of the stick. He also didn't get along with the Twelfth Doctor, resulting in several awkward situations whenever they came across one another.

Even Danny's "boring" death was clearly written to be unlucky, with him getting hit by a car while crossing the road.

After this incident, his bad fortunes even followed him into the afterlife. Rather than dying properly and getting to enjoy some peace, he awoke in "heaven" - which was actually one of Missy's schemes - and was eventually turned into a Cyberman, only to die all over again. Poor Danny.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
