10 Unluckiest Doctor Who Characters

Movie enthusiast Larry Nightingale spent the vast majority of his single Doctor Who story - Blink - being equal parts confused and terrified.

He's baffled by a mysterious DVD easter egg featuring the Tenth Doctor, and gets nowhere in his mission to uncover its origin. His sister then gets sent back in time by the Weeping Angels, and later on, Sally Sparrow recruits him for her mission to Wester Drumlins, with Larry not having the slightest clue about the horror that lies within.

He survives - narrowly - and his luck doesn't improve once the episode finishes.

In the brilliant video game Doctor Who: The Lonely Assassins, we learn that Sally and Larry (who got together at the end of Blink) are now separated, with Larry essentially living in fear at the prospect of the Angels returning, scarred by his experience at Wester Drumlins. To add insult to injury, his new partner Natasha also gets sent back in time - to the 1920s - and Larry himself goes missing while trying to find her.

He also isn't very good at remembering to wear pants, which is either bad luck... or perhaps laziness. Depends on your stance!

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
