The Mystery: The notion of The Sickness went through various iterations, with Danielle Rousseau presenting it as a form of madness, while Kelvin used it as a trick to keep Desmond from going outside of the Swan, but all these contradictory stories just had fans confused. The Islands healing nature only further complicated things and as season after season went by without any direct addressing of it, people were split between it being a lie in-world or a misleading mystery from the writers.
