10 Unsung TV Characters Who Completely Save Their Show

4. Ash Morgan - Hustle

The Characters Everyone Talks About: Mickey, Albert and Danny. Hustle was one of the most brilliantly slick and stylish dramas the BBC had ever produced, with the suave Adrian Lester playing con-man Mickey, the leader of a grifter group that included Marc Warren as cheeky ladies' man Danny and Hollywood legend Robert Vaughn as the wise Albert. Behind all the glitz and glamour though was the fixer, Ash Morgan, played by Robert Glenister. Ash would be the one with the plan of how to break in somewhere, or he'd raise funds for a big con; he was always in the background of the plan, but he was often the funniest character, the most intelligent and the most down-to-earth. Aside from a freak episode where he received a hit to the head and physically couldn't lie, he was the most dependable character, both for the audience and the grifters. Glenister played him as a rough diamond, unwaveringly loyal to Mickey, and wonderfully teasing to Danny. He rarely got his go in the limelight, and his suits weren't nearly as expensive as the other boys', but the show would've been nothing without him - he was the key to most of the schemes working - and his importance is perhaps best demonstrated in the fact that he was the only character to appear in every episode.
