10. Krypton
Did you like Man Of Steel? Wait, scratch that. Did you enjoy the first twenty-or-so minutes of Man Of Steel, where Superman didn't appear apart from as a tiny little newborn baby being held by his mother whilst his dad played by Russell Crowe ran around Krypton like a headless chicken, first getting the evil General Zod committed to life imprisonment in the Phantom Zone and then trying to convince people the planet was about to explode? Good news! Apparently Warner Bros had such faith in that opening sequence that they not only allowed Zack Snyder to spend a significant part of his budget on designing and realising Superman's home planet before destroying it and hiring Crowe, to be fair - but they've also greenlit a pilot for a TV show which would just be that opening sequence, on a weekly basis. Going back even further than Smallville, which looked at the pre-Superman life of Clark Kent, Krypton will look at the pre-Superman life of Krypon. And like Smallville, the audience knows what will happen in the end, but it could still be okay. A Babylon 5 with superpowers, maybe? Man Of Steel's David S Goyer is writing, with a view to setting it up on Syfy.
