10 Upcoming Horror TV Shows That Will Scare The S**t Out Of You

9. Interview With The Vampire

Guillermo Del Toro's Cabinet Of Curiosities
AMC

A brand new adaptation of the first novel in Anne Rice's genre-defining The Vampire Chronicles, Interview With The Vampire will lay out the book's story across eight episodes while also embracing its homosexual subtext, and perhaps also placing greater emphasis on race.

Premiering at the beginning of October on AMC, Sam Reid stars as the legendary vampire Lestat de Lioncourt, alongside Jacob Anderson as Lestat's lover and disciple Louis de Pointe du Lac. Framed by the titular present-day interview, the vampiric pair tear up New Orleans, feeding from human beings and animals alike, and getting into trouble, including turning themselves a 'daughter' in the young Claudia (played by Bailey Bass).

The fact that the show is being helmed by Pulitzer-nominated playwright Rolin Jones is a promising sign, as the material could use a keen dramatist to hit all the right narrative notes. It also promises to be far scarier than the 1994 adaptation, starring Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt, which delivered on the deeper aspects of Rice's writing while remaining somewhat light on genuine scares. But whether it will be bulging with as much rugged good looks and charisma, only time and our telly screens will tell.
