10 Upcoming Movies That Would Work Way Better As TV Shows

2. Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit

The Jack Ryan character has been portrayed by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford and Ben Affleck over the years, and now Chris Pine joins the group in Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, due out in a few short weeks. Rather than constantly swapping between actors every few years, though, wouldn't it make more sense to just cast one actor in a TV show and get things a little more consistent? I expect a network like FOX would probably jump at adding another slick spy show to their repertoire, especially considering that 24 is only coming back for a limited engagement this year. Give it a high budget, bring in a bunch of name actors in guest starring roles, and then cherry-pick the next big thing as the lead star, and you've got a recipe for success. Going by early reviews for the new film, it's a relatively ho-hum entry in the Jack Ryan series, and not liable to strike up much enthusiasm about a sequel, so why not opt for the TV route instead?
