10 Upcoming New Comic Book TV Shows To Be Excited About

The Batman is, without question, one of 2021's most eagerly-anticipated movies. The Robert Pattinson-led production will reboot the Dark Knight's story in what is designed as a gritty standalone story. That might separate it from Warner Bros. DCEU, but it doesn't mean the film won't spawn its very own universe instead. In fact, director Matt Reeves already has plans in place to make this happen.

There have been rumours that the film will kick off its own trilogy, but whether that happens or not, the tales of The Batman will continue on the small screen. But they won't further the story so much as they will add context to the world already seen in the film.

Based on the Gotham Central comic book series, the HBO Max spinoff is set during Batman's first year as Gotham's Dark Knight and will focus primarily on the GCPD as they tackle the corruption deep in the heart of the city. It's unknown whether or not Pattinson's Caped Crusader will appear in it, but Jeffrey Wright is rumoured to be reprising his role as Commissioner Gordon.

Aside from the series' premise, little has been confirmed yet - and that makes it even more exciting.
