10 Upcoming TV Shows That Are Already Doomed

4. The Witcher (Seasons 4 & 5)

The Witcher Henry Cavill
Netflix

The moment that Henry Cavill announced he was departing The Witcher after its third season, the show's days were absolutely, positively numbered.

Despite the show's many creative issues, Cavill's performance as Geralt of Rivia was much-loved by fans, and so for him to exit and then be replaced by Liam Hemsworth - who, no offense to him, is a major downgrade - has already left legions of Witcher-heads swearing the new seasons off.

Yes seasons, because though Netflix has no idea how audiences will react to Hemsworth taking over the role in season four, they've already commissioned a fifth season starring him too.

And given that season four will reportedly film between March and September of this year, likely for a mid-2025 release, there will be roughly two years between Cavill's final episode and Hemsworth's first.

It seems incredibly likely that fans will check out an episode or two of Hemsworth's tenure for sheer morbid curiosity alone, but after that the viewing figures will likely fall precipitously off a cliff, all while Netflix will probably be half-way through production on a doomed fifth season.

Seriously, Netflix should've canned this thing as soon as Cavill made his departure clear. It's a money pit without him.
