10 Upcoming TV Shows That Are Already Doomed

3. Peep Show (U.S. Remake)

The Witcher Henry Cavill
Channel 4

No legitimate discussion of the greatest sitcoms of all time can be had without mentioning Peep Show, the deliciously cynical Brit comedy centered around two housemates (David Mitchell and Robert Webb) eking out a miserable existence in London, and shot from a unique POV perspective.

Given that four prior attempts have been made to remake Peep Show for the U.S. - the most recent being in 2019 - it truly seemed like the ship had finally sailed and networks had gotten the message.

But not quite. In late 2022, it was confirmed that Atlanta writer Stefani Robinson was working on a fifth attempt for FX, which last year made serious headway when Minnie Driver and Amandla Jahava were cast in the lead roles.

Though this new take, focused on an unhinged tech entrepreneur (Driver) and her embattled assistant (Jahava), will retain the POV style of its inspiration, there's simply no way to recapture the original's searing British wit and perfect central dynamic, especially with the likelihood that it will sanitise all the pointy edges.

The pitchforks are already out for this one among the fandom, so you have to ask, why even bother?
