Carl had always been annoying but as the seasons went on he just became unbearable. For one, what was with his insistence on wearing his father's sheriff's deputy hat? Sure it was cute at first but when Carl was on the verge of growing into a full-blown man the cuteness soon wore thin.

Carl also always seemed to bring out the worst in Rick. Everybody knows that Rick was a terribly misguided leader but whenever Carl got involved things just managed to get worse and worse. Even the way Rick said his own son's name was annoying, not to mention that every time Andrew Lincoln screamed "Carl!" he would unintentionally reveal his true nationality. Spoiler, he's a bumbling Brit.

Lastly, Carl's hair became just as frustrating as the character and in turn, eventually became its own character. The longer the hair the more exasperating Carl came to be.

In the end, Carl was killed off, much to the surprise of everyone. It was true that he was irritating but for many, he was the heart and soul of the show. As a result, a number of fans were outraged and voiced their concerns at the controversial decision. Thankfully, the anger soon wore off and people soon realized that killing Carl was the best thing for everyone.
