10 Ways Gotham Has Redeemed Itself
1. Jerome The Joker?
From the outset of the series, showrunners wanted to present fans with several possible people that would eventually become the Joker. With an unclear past in the comics, Gotham did not have a model to follow when presenting a young Clown Prince of Crime. That all changed during the second season.
Enter Jerome. Jerome was a psychopath who was freed from Arkham in Theo Galavan’s jailbreak. While working for Galavan, he gleefully murdered people and cackled in a very Joker-esque way. His sheer enjoyment shown during his killing spree made many people believe that he would don the white makeup and purple suit. Unfortunately, only a few episodes into his reign of terror, he was murdered by Galavan who was attempting to look like a hero.
With Jerome being the closest that Gotham fans have had to seeing Batman’s arch nemesis, many were very excited before feeling let down by his seemingly quick death. What they did not know at the time is that Jerome will return. He has not yet been seen in the third season, but it is very likely that his body made its way into Hugo Strange’s lab. With dead villains returning even more dangerous than they were before, imagine Jerome after rising from the dead.
