10 Ways New Star Trek TV Series Could Go

1. Something Completely New

The final option is one that it's a little harder to speculate about. Sure, Paramount could once again go with what they think will be popular. But that didn't work out so well with Enterprise, which was a totally fan-targeted series about the early days of the Star Trek universe, which didn't have much appeal beyond the hardcore. The rebooted films were designed to reach that wider audience, but that worked precisely because it threw away all that old baggage and made it accessible to newbies. In which case, a new TV show which follows on from the continuity of the rebooted movies has all the problems that a continuation of the old show would have. So maybe the best idea for Paramount, if they don't want another failed series on their hands, is to once again do something completely different. Maybe not a reboot in the manner of the movies, but along those lines. Something that's totally apart from everything that's come before. Not necessarily another remake with the same characters €“ as much as some people might want to see Deep Space Nine back on screens, preferably with a returning Avery Brooks, but Idris Elba would also make a good Sisko €“ but something that stands up on its own, whilst still retaining everything that makes a Star Trek show great.
