10 Ways Russell T Davies Will Save Doctor Who

1. A Marketing Campaign That Actually Celebrates The Show

WhoCulture released a breakdown video of Jodie Whittaker's regeneration episode, detailing all the best (and worst) parts, while celebrating her tenure as the Doctor.

There were then a selection of comments suggesting that people only knew about this episode... because we had advertised it.

Somewhere along the way, the marketing for Doctor Who has faded into the background. This is by no means the fault of Chris Chibnall, either - it was well on the way before he took the reigns. If one thinks back to 2009, it was difficult to find a single moment of BBC television that didn't feature the Doctor in some way. Frankly, David Tennant was everywhere.

It's a simple truth - the more a show is advertised, the more people will watch it. Davies is a master of this - something that his compatriots would do well to emulate. If he uses the same campaign that he employed for Tennant's departure to get people ready for his return, it's safe to say that Doctor Who may yet be entering another golden age.

We don't have a time machine so we don't know exactly how things will play out, but with RTD, Doctor Who may just be in the safest hands imaginable.
