2. Vaguely Evil Corporation
On Veronica Mars: When Veronica begins to dig deeper into the murder of Lilly Kane, she unearths a conspiracy linking confessed murderer Abel Koontz to the company owned by Jake Kane: Kane Software. As Veronica investigates further, she discovers that Koontz was a former employee of Kane Software, terminated and then bribed to confess to Lilly's murder. With head of security Clarence Wiedman proving willing to do anything to protect his benefactor and Jake and Celeste Kane circling to keep their terrible secret, all signs pointed toward a member of the Kane family as the real killer. On iZombie: When Liv discovers a trail of evidence linking Blaine's tainted Utopium from the boat party to energy drink Max Rager, she realizes that her zombism resulted from an unnatural combination of the two. Learning of a memo that indicated that Max Rager executives knew that there was something in the beverage that could induce the rage inherent in full zombie mode, Liv and Clive are stonewalled by CEO Vaughn Du Clark as they try to track it down. Despite Blaine seeming the clear antagonist throughout the first season, the final episode revealed Du Clark working on developing a version of the drink that could create zombies en masse while planning on wiping out the existing population of the undead.
